There are a lot of questions that don't have good answers. Why does the ballot lie about the total tax burden? Why does Pierce Transit make no effort to sell more advertising? It's important to focus on providing service to the transit-dependant population. Some of PT's services could be re-classified into "Lifeline" services that run a few times a day, or even a couple days a week, to enable otherwise home-bound individuals to conduct their business.

I still don't believe the cuts are going to be as severe as threatened. I think the numbers are off.

Fredo, taxes are the lowest they've ever been. Easy and cheap transportation will do a lot more for peoples livelihoods than a miniscule tax increase.

Too many taxes and a worsening recession will result in a big no vote from most of us. The public is in no mood to underwrite a tax increase. If maintaining service levels is something that managers and staff at PT truly wish for that can be accomplished by making proportional reductions in salaries.

Servicing these remote area only increases suburban sprawl to areas that don't want it in the first place. As you know, the cost per rider is extremely expensive in those areas.
